Hope Academy Update!![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Happening at Hope: Snow tubing field trip before our winter break; making mac and cheese in high school culinary class; brainstorming for Debate Week 2026! Dear Friends, I often say that our scholars have no idea how much we love them! How do we communicate this to them? How do we convince them? We attempt to communicate and convince by teaching them amazing things about God’s Word and His world, building relationships with them, eating lunch with them, playing after lunch activity with them, praying with them, and having hard but hopeful conversations with them. In The Last Battle, by C. S. Lewis, some of the renegade dwarves are unable to hear Aslan’s true voice. Their own wrong ideas about Aslan make it impossible for these dwarves to understand what Aslan is actually saying; they hear only a lion’s growl. I think it’s often like that for our scholars. Our teachers consistently and intentionally invest in our scholars’ lives through words and actions, and some scholars perceive that their teachers are, in effect, growling at them. How often my love for scholars is diminished by their ungrateful response to my loving them. How often I need God to work in my heart to help my love for them remain undiminished regardless of scholars’ responses. When scholars groan because we have high expectations of them? Undiminished love. When they resist our holding them accountable for their actions? Undiminished love. When they reject godly counsel in difficult life situations? Undiminished love. Christ alone can open the ears and soften the hearts of our scholars so that they are able to hear the truth and understand that the gospel is indeed good news. Meanwhile, our faithful teachers labor on with undiminished love. We are beginning to recruit faculty members to join us here at Hope Academy for the 2026-2027 school year. If you know of teachers who would be a good fit to join our family, please put me in touch with them. So glad you are journeying with us as we hold out help, healing, and hope! Please pray that God will… * equip our teachers to keep loving our scholars well * open ears and soften hearts of our scholars * provide meaningful connections with new partners and organizations * begin to prepare future teachers to join us in this valuable work For the Hope Academy Family, Naomi Woodmansee, Head of School ![]() Visit our website to find more ways to give, including planned giving & Venmo Share.
