Chester, VT Church Revitalization/Plant

Hey guys!

I wanted to share a quick update on how Easter week went here in Chester.

We began with Palm Sunday, focusing on what it means to celebrate and follow Jesus together. As this is our first year as a church, it was especially meaningful to talk through the communal nature of our faith and what it looks like to walk with Jesus as a people, not just as individuals.

On Maundy Thursday, we gathered for a night of worship and communion. Because many in our church are new to the faith—or are still exploring who Jesus is—we’ve been intentional about when and how we introduce communion. Maundy Thursday felt like the right moment to step into that together. We had nearly 50 people join us, and about 20 took communion for the first time.

One of the most meaningful parts of the night was taking time for families to pray together before receiving the elements. For many, this was their first time praying as a family. Watching parents pray over their kids, and kids pray for their parents, was genuinely powerful. I’ve attached a photo of one family—three generations gathered together in prayer (including some family members right outside the frame of the picture) —which captures that moment well.

Easter Sunday was incredible. We ran out of parking and chairs, which was a good problem to have. Despite the rain, we held our Easter egg hunt indoors, and people stayed and spent time together until mid-afternoon. Later, a group of us without local family gathered for a simple Easter meal together, which turned into a really meaningful time of connection.
In total, we welcomed 6–7 new families, had around 30 kids, and over 70 adults with us that morning.

Looking ahead, we’ll be spending the next few months walking through the Gospel of John. We’re hopeful this will be a rich season—especially for those who are new to Scripture—as well as a time of renewed depth for those who have been following Jesus for years.

The Lord is doing something special here in Vermont, and we’re deeply grateful for your continued love, prayer, and support. We truly couldn’t do this without you.

I hope you all had a wonderful Easter—God is good.
