A series of talks called Alpha will begin Monday, Oct. 2, at 6:30pm at the Sherman Church, 6 Church Road. The evening will begin with dinner followed by a video presentation and small group discussion to learn God’s word about life and discuss matters that impact all our lives.  The 11-week series of Alpha talks is designed to engage people from all walks of life and inspire conversation. They explore the big issues of life and faith and unpack the basics of Christian belief, addressing questions like “Who is Jesus?” “Why and how do I pray?” and “How does God guide us?”

Alpha began at a church in London in 1977 and was repositioned as a course for those outside the church in 1990. Millions of people worldwide have tried Alpha, and it has been translated into 112 different languages.
